This half term we are learning about animals that hibernate. We found out that lots of animals hibernate like bears, hedgehogs, squirrels and lots more. Some animals in England hibernate.
We read a book called 'The Two Hungry Bears' which was about two bears getting ready to hibernate. When an animal is getting ready to hibernate they eat lots of food so they do not wake up hungry during the Winter.
We found out that animals that hibernate find a nice warm place to sleep. In class we made dens and shelters in the small world tray and for Bob to sleep in. Bob is our class bear who doesn't know a lot about hibernation so we have been teaching him all about it.
On a Tuesday afternoon we have been working in our Green Wood. The first time we went down we made little creatures using materials we found in the woods. The week after we made dens for them to hibernate in. The time we went into the woods, we split into three groups and made a shelter big enough for 10 people to get into.
Here are some of the pictures of us in the Green Wood.
We have also been finding out which materials would be good to make Bob's den waterproof.
We investigated which materials were waterproof.
