During Spring 1 we will be learning about...
We will be learning about where they invaded and settled, which countries they came from and how they travelled. We will write our own Viking Quests where our Viking characters will raid the monastery at Lindesfarne! We will also have our very own Viking visitor in school. A very exciting half term....
The children have been very busy at home making their Viking Longhouses. I am very impressed with the effort that has gone into them. The children have thought about what they would look like and what would be inside the longhouses. They will be on display in the dining room during next half term. Well done to everybody who has made one.
Sam Paetcher from Boffin Projects came to teach us how to make Viking Longboats out of clay. It was a fantastic day and all the children worked hard on their model. The models have been sent away to be fired and will be returning to us shortly. The children were also busy in class making a Viking Longboats out of card.
This half term in Science we have been learning about rocks and soils.
We looked closely at different types of rocks describing the appearance using a magnifying glass. We had a little fun with them too!
We did an experiment to test the drainage of three different types of soil. Sandy soil, loamy soil and clay soil. We put the same amount of soil in each of the three funnels. We then poured the same amount of water into the funnels and measured the amount of water that drained through. We worked as a team and recorded our results.

The BBC Primary History Vikings website is fantastic. We have been using it during our creative curriculum lessons to find out about Viking life.
