We held our annual Easter Egg Decorating competition on the last day of term. We were very impressed with all of the entries and the children's efforts. Here are some photographs of fantastic entries.
We held our annual Easter Fair on Saturday 24th March 2018. It was lovely to see some many families and members of the local community enjoying the event which included craft activities, Easter egg hunt, refreshments and competitions. Thank you to everybody who supported the day.
We organised a special walk around our local community to raise money and raise awareness of Sports Relief. The children wore red clothing and donated money for this worthy cause. Here are some photos of us setting off on our Sports Relief walk.
We enjoyed a fantastic World Book Day on Wednesday 14th March. The theme this year was 'Share a story' and we held lots of different story telling events and competitions. The children were asked to dress as their favourite book character and prizes were awarded for the most creative costumes. We also held a door decoration competition and classes voted for and decorated their doors based upon their favourite books.
This year we held a reading café in the library before school. Families were invited to visit the café and share a book. Thank you to everybody who attended.

A big thank you to all of our children and their families for the fantastic effort and creativity used for this year's World Book Day costumes. Here are a selection of photographs of some of the amazing creations worn on the day.
We held story telling sessions in the library throughout the day. Ms Newing displayed the World Book Day books and read extracts from the books to the children.
The Governors visited the school to judge costumes and the door decoration competition and prizes were presented in assembly. We also presented special reading hampers to two children who had completed the 'World Book Day Reach for the Stars' reading challenge.
Local MP visits Worthinghead
On Friday 15th December 2017 we received a visit from Judith Cummins our local MP. Judith visited school to present a child in Year 1 with a special award. We submitted Christmas card designs to Judith and his design was chosen to be made into her annual Christmas card. She visited school to present him with a special award and a House of Commons teddy bear in assembly.
Remembrance Day 2017
On Friday 10th November 2017 children from Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 attended a memorial ceremony at Wyke Green. The ceremony was organised by local representatives of the British Legion. The children made crosses and wreaths upon which special remembrance messages were written.
Harvest Festival (19th and 20th October 2017)
A big thank you to everybody who supported our Harvest assemblies. The children from Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 enjoyed performing songs and poems. They also enjoyed sharing their artwork with the audience. Thank you for your kind donations for our harvest table. These are being donated to the Wyke Food Bank and will be used to make food parcels for local families.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan fundraising event. We were overwhelmed with the donations we received and it was lovely to see so many families visiting the cake stalls and supporting this amazing charity. We raised a fantastic £215.11. Thank you for your support!
We had a fantastic day with Andy Seed. After an entertaining assembly we had a timetable of class workshops with Andy throughout the day. There was also the opportunity to buy a book and have it signed at lunch time and after school. Please visit Andy's website below to find out more about him and his books.
Roald Dahl Day 13th September 2017
We really enjoyed celebrating the anniversary of Roald Dahl's birthday. We took part in lots of Roald Dahl themed activities and shared our favourite Roald Dahl books with our class. We also held a school vote for our favourite Roald Dahl book.
The top 5 winning books were:
1st - BFG (43 votes)
2nd - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (35 votes)
3rd - Matlida (25 votes)
4th - The Twits (9 votes)
5th - George's Marvellous Medicine (8 votes)
We presented Year 4 with an special award for their Roald Dahl themed work which included Maths, English and French. Well done Year 4!
