We used atlases to find where Egypt is on a map of the world. We then named the other countries in Africa and located the Equator and the Tropics.
Today we learnt about mummification. We found out what happened to the Pharaoh's body after they had died. Embalmers prepared the body before wrapping them in linen bandages. Here are our embalmers wrapping up their mummies.
Canopic jars are used for storing the organs. Each jar is protected by one of the four sons of the god Horus and the lid of each jar is in the shape of its protector god's head.
Your intestines
are kept in the jar which has a falcon head of the god Qebehseneuf.
Your lungs
are stored in the jar protected by the god Hapy, who has the head of a baboon.
Your liver
will be stored in a jar with the human head of the god Imsety on it.
Your stomach
is placed in the jar with the jackal head of the god Duamutef on it.
