Welcome To Our Green Wood
We are very fortunate and feel very proud to have our own Green Wood at Worthinghead. Mrs Greenwood is a qualified Forest School and fire starter instructor.
Nature is an incredible learning resource for children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and provides wonderful opportunities for a whole range of learning experiences in the natural world.
Each summer our younger children invite their parents to join them for a teddy bears picnic. In the autumn term we raise money for our Year 5 residential trip by holding a "Hallofire" event which includes activities in the woodland and around the fire. During the Easter activity day, clues for the egg hunt decorate our trees.
Throughout the year, each class visits the Green Wood to enhance their learning across the creative curriculum. Mrs Greenwood supports classes with learning in the woodland.
Websites for you to visit
The Green Wood is used for curriculum enhancement and forest school activities throughout the year. We have a wide variety of wildlife visiting the woods and the school grounds. Currently there is a heron visiting the pond, blackbirds have hatched in the quad in the centre of school, hundreds of tadpoles have hatched in the pond and the nest boxes in the wood are being used by blue tits.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
