Creating our own butterfly collages (22nd May 2015)
We have been learning about symmetrical patterns and have been busy creating our own butterfly collages using fabric, sequins, buttons and beads. We carefully created our own symmetrical designs which we carefully followed whilst creating our butterflies.
Year 2 Butterflies (20th May 2015)
Our butterflies finally emerged this week. After 2 weeks of hidden transformations we were pleased to welcome five Painted Lady butterflies. We held a competition to name the butterflies. The winning names were James Bond, Thunder, Bill, Pippa and Funny. We released them in the school garden although they did not seem to want to leave their new home!
Year 2 Caterpillars
We have been looking after 5 caterpillars in Year 2. Over the past few weeks they have slowly munched through lots of caterpillar food and have now turned into chrysalides before emerging as beautiful butterflies. When they emerge we are going to hold a naming competition before we set them free in our school grounds.
Easter Chicks
We enjoyed having the chicks in our classroom today. It was lovely to watch them play and explore. We even got to hold and cuddle them.
Mrs Wilson visited our class with her two Guide Dogs Hadley and Rhoda. She told us about the important work that Guide dogs do. She explained how they help people with sight problems so that they can live a normal life. Mrs Wilson explained how the Guide dogs are trained and how much the dogs cost. Here are some photographs of our special visit.
We tried on special glasses so we could try to understand what it is like to have sight problems.
We enjoyed walking and stroking the dogs.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
