Welcome to the Worthinghead Maths page.
We currently use the White Rose scheme of learning which was originally designed by Trinity Academy in Halifax when they became a maths hub for the region. The teaching practices and theories follow the Shanghai methods as they have been highly successful, ranking them first in the world.
2019-2020 - All the teachers are currently having training on the White Rose methods and techniques. To learn more about the scheme, click on the link below.
This year we have introduced "Big Maths" where the children are grouped to learn and practise maths fluency, learning the strategies to improve speed and ability for arithmetic. We also have TT Rockstars to improve times tables, which will encourage all our children to battle against each other to win the ultimate prize each Wednesday. The children will all have their logins so they can play at home. New fluency boards have been bought to improve the children's knowledge of number and place value. All these new resources and strategies will build up confidence in our mathematicians, and inject a fun element into lessons.
TT Rockstars - Battle Of The Bands Results
Each week the classes pit their times tables knowledge against another class picked at random in assembly.

Maths Mastery Readiness
As part of the Maths Mastery Program, James Clegg (from the White Rose Maths team) came in to classes to demonstrate how to use manipulatives in the classroom. We had lots of questions for him and will be stealing lots of his ideas!
