Year 2 Visit the Leeds Museum (6th March 2015)
We had a fantastic day at the Leeds Museum. In the morning we took part in an Egyptian workshop. We were given a special job to explore the Ancient Worlds gallery looking for artefacts from an Egyptian tomb. We also met Nesyamun (The museum mummy). It was very interesting and exciting to see a real life mummy and to learn about his life. Nesyamun was a priest in Thebes in Egypt.
After that we completed lots of different activities including making our own amulets (lucky charms), designing our own Egyptian gods and we even completed the mummification process! We had a fantastic day!
Egyptian arts and crafts
We have enjoyed creating our own Egyptian art work this half term. We held an art and craft day and created own own Egyptian Masks. We learned about hieroglyphics including how to write own name. We also used hieroglyphics patterns on clay tiles. We designed our own box model sarcophagus and mummies and completed our own paintings on papyrus.
