Our first topic this half term is 'Stories from imaginary worlds'. We will be basing our learning around 'The Borrowers' by Mary Norton.
One aspect of SPaG that we are getting to grips with is using fronted adverbials. Fronted adverbials help us start our sentences in different ways and allow us to add more detail.
For example;
Suddenly, a ghost appeared at the window.
Angrily, the man left the noisy room.
Soon after, Rachel ran out of the door and into the deep, dark forest.
Without warning, a gust of wind blew the door shut.
Notice that a comma needs to be used after the adverb / adverbial phrase.
Have a look at the video below to help you remember how to use fronted adverbials.
As part of our Explanation focus in English, our class brought to life their designs as models. I can't wait to see them go into production!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
