We will be learning about Britain’s settlement by Anglo-Saxons and Scots. Children will learn who the Anglo Saxons were, where they came from, why they invaded and where they settled in Britain. Children will understand the impact of this settlement upon British life from AD700 to 1066. We will study place names and village life as well as Anglo-Saxon art and culture. Children will then learn in greater detail about the social aspect of history: crime and punishment. They will understand how crimes, punishments and laws changed from Anglo-Saxon times to the present day and what factors impacted upon these changes.
